The School was started by Dora Wemyss in 1877 to provide a skill to local girls from which they could earn an income. The school today has both a museum and shop. The museum houses a huge collection of needlework pieces from the 16th Century onwards. The shop stocks needlework kits inspired by our archive, an extensive range of needlework supplies as well as gifts. We also supply bespoke kits unique to the customer. Classes are still taught, but not every day. Please check out our website for more information and contact us with any requests. We are always open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays but are available any day of the week by arrangement.
