Getting around from Newhaven

Newhaven harbour is a little fishing port. Tenders take around 15 minutes to travel in from the ship.

From your ship it is an easy walk into the nearby shopping centre, or to see one of the most popular attractions The Royal Yacht Britannia.

By Bus and Tram

There are a variety of buses passing near to the tender port.. The recommended bus to the city centre is the service 11. Local volunteers on the pier will give you directions. The recently opened Tram Extension, offers a service every 7 minutes into the city centre, and if required, out to Edinburgh Airport. The Tram stop is approximately 500 metres from Newhaven harbour.

For unlimited travel around the city on Lothian Buses andthe Tram, an Adult Day Ticket costs £5. Buses take cash (exact fare) or contactless payments (up to a maximum of £30).

There is also a hop on- hop off service - The Majestic Tour which will take you around major city attractions including the Castle and the Royal Mile.

By Taxi

Taxis will usually be waiting near the quayside. Some cruise operators offer a shuttle service to the city centre by coach. There are no rail connections in Leith, and your nearest station is Edinburgh Waverley.

It is also possible to walk around Newhaven or along to Leith, exploring the many shops and eateries.
