Getting around from Newhaven

Newhaven harbour is a little fishing port. Tenders take around 10 minutes to travel in from the ship.

From your ship it is an easy walk into the nearby shopping centre, or to see one of the most popular attractions The Royal Yacht Britannia. Transfer buses are often provided by the ship or the port to transport you to Ocean Terminal - a five minute drive

By Bus

Lothian Buses operate service X50 Cruiselink for direct (non-stop) transfer to the City Centre (St Andrew Square). Return Tickets cost £4.00 Adult & £2.00 Child and also allow customers to use other city buses on the network. X50 ticket + City Bus Tours costs £20.00 Adult & £10.00.

Crew members with a valid ID travel for free on service X50. Services 7, 10, 11 & 16 are the local buses to Newhaven, X50 tickets can also be used on this service.

Please note - the X50 does not operate for all inclusive cruises, or vessels below 1300 passengers.

By Taxi

Taxis will be waiting on the quayside. Some cruise operators offer a shuttle service to the city centre by coach. There are no rail connections in Leith, and your nearest station is Edinburgh Waverley.

It is also possible to walk around Newhaven or along to Leith, exploring the many shops and eateries.
