Distilled, bottled and labelled in the shadow of Stirling Castle, we are Stirling’s first legal distillery on the castle rock. With a cocktail in hand, and samples of our full award-winning range, let our passionate tour guides talk you through the history of gin, how we came to own Stirling’s first legal distillery, and learn about some of Stirling City’s most fascinating stories. Get up close and personal with our still room, with in-depth insight into how our gin is created and distilled. 6 gin and gin liqueurs, our house cocktail, and a step-by-step guide to creating the perfect G&T - this is every gin lover’s dream come true.
The Old Smiddy Gin School
You will be welcomed to our distillery with our bespoke welcome cocktail, shown our stunning Victorian building and seated at your very own mini still. One of our passionate staff members will then give you a run-down of gin’s history, from its medical uses to binge drinking in the slums of London all the way through to today’s Scottish gin craze. They will then talk you through the science of gin distilling and show you a selection of beautiful botanicals which you will choose from to make an entirely unique gin all of your own. Over two hours you will charge your still, choose your flavours, test the gin as it comes off the condenser and bottle it with your personalised Old Smiddy Gin School label to take home. To finish up, you will enjoy a Stirling Gin perfect serve alongside a G&T made from your very own creation.
