Providing Scottish Hospitality for over 200 years, the Tolbooth Tavern remains a cosy traditional Scottish pub, full of character and charm. It is part of the original Canongate Tolbooth which was built in 1591. This medieval building was used to collect tolls from travellers entering the burgh at the Canongate. The ground floor became The Tolbooth Tavern in 1820. The Tolbooth Tavern is centrally located on the Canongate towards the bottom of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. We have fine Scottish ales, malt whiskies and gins for you to enjoy whilst our chefs serve up hearty home-cooked Scottish fayre using locally sourced produce. If you want to embrace some of Edinburgh’s dark history and immerse yourself in a spooky atmosphere, the Tolbooth Tavern is a must visit whilst in town. A complimentary taster of MacSween’s Haggis will be served with whisky cream sauce, when a main course is purchased from our main menu. Simply show your cruise guest card.
